- Maximum number of PPOs were made by Microsoft and Wipro.
- Qualcomm, ITC, Unilever were some of the other firms that offered PPOs to IIT Kharagpur students.
There couldn’t have been a more positive start of the session for IIT Kharagpur with 118 pre-placement offers (PPO) rolled out to the students of the institute. Some of the top organisations offered PPOs after the students completed their internships.
As per the data collected till August 11, IIT Kharagpur has received pre-placement offers from Microsoft, Wipro, Samsung and other top organisations, informed Debasis Deb, Professor in-charge of Career Development Centre.
Following are the number of PPOs made by some of the Top Organisations:

Other companies that offered pre-placement offers to the students of IIT Kharagpur were Unilever, ITC, etc. Finance, analytics, software and consultancy firms also rolled out PPOs for the students of the institute.
Talking about the excellent start, Deb said that this is a huge development for the institute. He also added that general, 15% of the placements at IIT Kharagpur are PPOs and many more offers will be made at the campus as the session progresses.

Students of IIT Kharagpur had to undergo summer internship that is a mandatory part of the summer internship. The summer internship is conducted after the completion of the third year in the month of May and June.
Jobs through PPOs were offered to students from different departments including computer science engineering, electronics and communication, electrical, chemical, mechanical, humanities, economics, etc.

Prof Deb also informed that the institute is contacting some new firms and inviting them to hire students from IIT Kharagpur. The institute is expecting close to 250 companies in the month of December, Deb added.
