India Will Soon Make it to Top 25 in Global Innovation Index: PM Modi

While addressing the university and college students across the country on 2nd March 2019 in the Smart India Hackathon at IIT Roorkee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India ranked 81 in the Global Innovation Index in 2014 but now the country has reached 57th position. PM Modi said that the country jumped 24 notches in just 4 years, the country is now the world’s third-largest start-up today and will make it to the top 25 of the Global Innovation Index soon.

Stating the reason behind this escalation, PM Modi said that the new India is making its mark in the world through its culture of innovation, start-ups, and entrepreneurship and that this must go on to reach greater heights.

While addressing the young participants of the Smart India Hackathon, Modi suggested the students think of hyper-local solutions that will help vegetable and fruit vendors in delivering goods via an online marketplace model. He also suggested them to come up with ideas to deal with child and women safety related issues with technology-driven solutions.
