JEE Main Shift 2 Paper Review 24 January 2025: Students' Reviews

After the exam concluded, we talked to the aspirants and some of the reactions for JEE Main 24 January Shift 2 Exam Analysis from the candidates are here:

  • Maths was very lengthy and moderate to tough.
  • Physics was moderate and Chemistry was easy
  • Many took 35-40 minutes to complete Chemistry section.
  • In physics, modern physics had 2-3 questions, current electricity had 1 question, 1 question from electromagnetism (solid cylinder based question where radius was given and magnetic field variation was asked), 3-4 graph based question were there. Questions from Wave Optics were higher and were of moderate to tough level. 3 questions were there from wave optics, 1 question from gravitation (if diameter of earth becomes 1/3 then what will be the value of g?) which was graph based.
  • In Physics, 2 questions were asked from Rotation (one question on inclined plane and solid and hollow sphere question about which one would fall faster?, linear and rotational kinetic energy ratio question), Young's Double Slit Experiment topic had 3 questions (slit kept in different mediums and fringe beta and intensity was asked), less questions were asked from electrostatics and fluid mechanics. Physics had more application and competency based questions. 1 question also came from Capacitance which was direct formula-based.
  • In Physics, there was 1 question from SHM which was tricky as the given equation was not a direct linear equation so it was supposed to be converted to Cos2θ and the related graph also wasn't simple (Kinetic energy vs x graph).
  • According to students and experts, Physics had more standard questions which will increase the cutoff of Physics section for Day 3 Shift 2 of JEE Main 2025 Session 1. 1 question was asked from Units and Dimensions. No direct questions from EM Waves. 1 question from semiconductor and 1 easy question from logic gate was asked. 2 to 3 questions came from Electromagnetism chapter (one easy question was if moved a distance r then what will be the variation in the magnetic field?). 1 question from Ray Optics (to find out magnification of an area's image taken from a drone)
  • In Maths, 3D Vector had 4 questions, 2 questions from matrices and determinants, 1 question from probability. In Maths paper, there was a question which combined probability and matrices concepts (probability of irreversible determinant was asked)
  • In Chemistry, organic chemistry had higher weightage followed by inorganic chemistry. Physical chemistry had the least number of questions in this shift. 2 to 3 questions came from Mole Concept (Halogen estimation question), 2 questions came from Salt Analysis, GOC had 1 question, 2 questions from Aromaticity, 1 question from biomolecule, 1 question from Amino Acid, 3 questions from Coordination Compounds (question on electronic configuration, if electrons are filled in a particular way then will it be high spin complex, low spin complex, strong field, etc.), 1 question on stereoisomer (one double and chiral carbon was given and total variation of isomers were asked), 1 color-related question from halogen compound.
  • Chemistry also had 1 question from chemical kinetics (H2+I2 = HI graph on equilibrium was asked) and 1 question from ionic equilibrium. 1 question from thermochemistry where question was asked about which acid bases release the highest heat. 1 question on ionization energy trend was asked. No questions were asked from p-block. 1 easy question from electrochemistry where candidates were supposed to find good reducing agent. 1 question also came from Chemical Kinetics (graph-based question). Physical chemistry had only 4 questions.
  • Maths paper took 1 to 1.5 hours and candidates were able to do 6 to 10 questions only. Maths had 3-4 questions from conic section (1 question on ellipse (eccentricity) and questions were mixed with concepts like Area Under the Curve), Objective had 1 question and 3 questions in integer from Conic section. 1 question came from integration in the integer section which was very lengthy. Function topic had 2-3 questions, 1 question from quadratic equation, 1 question from complex number mixed with another topic,
  • As per students, 99 percentile will around 170-190 marks for JEE Main 2025 24 January Shift 2.
  • 70% overall paper came from class 12th syllabus and only 30% questions were from class 11th syllabus.
  • Physics paper, however, had more topics from class 11th syllabus.
  • Overall number of good attempts were 45-50.
