Students from the Kaktiya University staged a protest against the Registrar’s decision for conducting the examinations. As per sources, the students had been demanding that the examination be postponed. With no replies being received from the Registrar, the students staged a protest in front of the Registrar’s chambers.
As per the official notification from the varsity, the semester examinations have been scheduled to be held from 29th November 2019. The police had been called in to obstruct the protest.
The students state that the administration ha failed to complete the syllabus in time, yet the administration decided to conduct the semester examinations. Further, the students also claimed that the varsity did not conduct the required number of classes as well for the students of 1st, 3rd and 5th semesters. As per a statement from the leader of ABVP, Ram Babu, the educational institutions are required to conduct classes for 90 days prior to conducting the semester exams.
Ram Babu stated that the entire admissions concluded in September this year through DOST or Degree Online Services Telangana. Following the admission processes, the Dussehra holidays began. Adding to the reduced number of holidays, the State Government further introduced holidays due to the TSRTC employees’ strike. The combination of the delayed admission processes along with a large number of holidays resulted in a meager 45 days of classes being conducted for the first, third and fifth semesters.
