KEAM 2024: According to the statement made by the higher education minister, R. Bindu during KEAM 2023 result announcement, KEAM 2024 is likely to be conducted in computer-based mode this year. The exam mode has not yet been confirmed by the authorities. However, once it gets confirmed, the Commission of Entrance Examination will announce the exam mode and the exam dates at cee.kerala.gov.in. Since the examination generally takes place in June, the final decision will be announced soon.
Since 2017, the education department has been testing C-DIT's online exam software. Although it was initially intended for use in 2019, the government did not provide political clearance at that time. Besides, there were many hindrances to the launch of this software. Now, in 2024, C-DIT's software is undergoing rigorous testing. If it proves reliable in all aspects and receives political clearance, KEAM 2024 will be conducted in Computer-Based Testing (CBT) mode starting this year.
The decision for this switchover was taken after the outbreak of COVID-19 when it became difficult to conduct KEAM in an offline mode, i.e., through OMR sheets.
Once it switches to CBT, the pattern of the exam might be slightly changed.
Instead of conducting the exam in one or two days, KEAM 2024 might be conducted for five or more days, and in a phased manner.
The authorities might also adjust the difficulty level of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry examinations, and reduce the number of questions to conduct it in a simple attempt.
While nothing is sure as of now, the above changes are likely to happen if CBT mode is introduced. The CBT mode will apply only to a limited number of candidates in Kerala.
