Amidst the flurry of activity on Wednesday as the Higher Secondary Certificate results were released, the helplines set up by the state board's Kolhapur division remained quiet all day. Officials say the board did not have time to give any publicity to the helpline numbers.
Ravindra Paymal, a counsellor appointed for Kolhapur district said he did not receive any calls since students were not aware of the helpline numbers provided by the board. N D Birnale, a counsellor appointed for Sangli district, voiced similar opinions and said he is expecting a few calls from Thursday.
Another counsellor said that the first day of the result is an important day for both, students as well as parents, and experience says that many students call the helpline to clarify their confusion. Mr.Gosavi added that all counsellors will be available for up till a week from May 26.
" We received many calls last year. Some students asked for clarity about their result, some had queries about their career while others had clarifications about their performance. Many parents, too, called seeking guidance about how their wards should proceed after the Class XII examination."

"They got to know about the announcement of the result on Tuesday evening which did not give them time to publicize the helpline numbers. We generally publish the helpline numbers in the newspapers one day prior to the results so that students can contact the counsellors. This year, however, since there was not enough time, the board was unable to do this,"
