Atrocities against women in Rohtak have become a barrier for women candidates to choose Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak in order to pursue management programmes. A recent incident where a 23-year-old woman was raped and mutilated at Rohtak has further increased the fear among women to join IIM Rohtak.
Few years ago, IIM Rohtak witnessed a large number of women students enrolling for management programmes, almost at with men. However, the Jat agitation that took place last year restricted women to join IIM Rohtak. During the Jat agitation in the year 2016, Rohtak had become the epicentre of protests. The protesters who took part in the agitation indulged in various criminal activities as well.

Keeping in view the atrocities against women in the city, IIM Rohtak witnessed only nine women enrolling for management courses this year. The institute has seen the same tendency over the past few years. For instance, only 15 women enrolled in the year 2015 against 150 men.
If we look at the statistics, the women strength of IIM Rohtak was equal to men in the year 2013. Everything was fine until 2013 and 2014. It all started with the Jat agitation in the year 2015 and 2016. Parents are not reluctant of the fact of letting their daughters at IIM Rohtak, as the safety is uncertain.
Instead of an increase in the number of women students at IIM Rohtak, there has been an increase in the number of crimes against women in Rohtak.

The government and the management of IIM Rohtak are taking possible steps to ensure women safety. The institute will surely not get more women students unless the crime rate decline in the city.
On the other hand, IIM Rohtak has been performing exceptionally well in placements. This year, IIM Rohtak witnessed 42% hike in the highest salary offered.
