Maharani Cluster University (Bangalore) is going to launch Liberal Arts courses from the next academic session. Liberal Arts courses will help students to combine the degrees of their choice.
The Maharani Cluster University, which is going to start its academic session this year, is all set to launch degree programmes in Liberal Arts. The Union Government has approved the transformation of Maharani College of Arts, Commerce, Science and Home Science into a university considering its excellence in the respective fields of study.
Maharani Cluster Universities has divided the disciplines into different schools -
- Science and Home Science
- Commerce and Management
- Humanities and Liberal Arts
- Languages and Literature
The above departments have been in existence for several years now. The university is now planning to launch courses in Liberal Arts so that students can combine the degrees of their choice.
Giving more details about the same, Special Officer of Maharani Cluster University, Professor Shankar Reddy revealed that the varsity is the first in Karnataka to launch courses in Liberal Arts.
Advantages of Liberal Arts Courses offered by Maharani Cluster University
One of the major advantages of Liberal Arts courses offered by Maharani Cluster University has been explained through examples below -
Example 1:- If a B.A. student is interested in pursuing one commerce or Science or Home Science, he/ she will have the flexibility to choose one major from the above disciplines along with their B.A. degree. Due to this option, the students will have varieties of options to study from.
Example 2:- A science student who is aspiring for IAS or KAS (Karnataka Administrative Service) can choose two science subjects and one humanities subject like Public Administration. This will enable the student to balance the academic studies and will help him/her to prepare for UPSC or state public service exams.
The Liberal Arts courses will be available from the upcoming academic session (2020-21). This year (2019-20), Maharani Cluster University will also offer PG Diploma programmes.

- MBA in Hospitality
- Diploma in GST
- Diploma in Accounts
- Business Analytics
- Data Analytics
