Maharashtra Government has set up a panel to review and recommend suggestions related to education seats for all category of students. The members of the panel comprise of Senior Officials from the departments of higher education, school education, technical education, medical education, and others.
The panel has been asked by the state government to submit a report regarding the same within three months. According to the reports, there is a lot of disappointment among the students belonging to open category. The disappointment among the students is due to the quantum of seats available for them in education. The number of seats for the open category has gone down after the introduction of 12 percent reservation for Maratha students under SEBC category. Apart from this, the Maharashtra government has also introduced 10 percent quota for the EWS among the general category candidates.
