Ajmer based Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University has announced that the University is planning to offer diploma and certificate courses on birds from its next new academic session starting from July 2017.

The information was shared by a top official of the University on Tuesday January 24, 2017. KC Sodani, Vice-Chancellor of the University has given an approval for this course. The move came after the huge success of the first Bird Fair organised by the Ajmer District Administration with the active support of the leading newspaper of the state, Rajasthan Patrika.
Department of Environmental Science Head, Praveen Mathur, said that the proposed certificate course would be on Basics of Ornithology. Students who have completed their 12th standard can apply for the diploma course. The diploma course would be on Avian Diversities for science graduate students.

Both the courses will be of six months duration complying with the norm of the University Grant Commission. Under the course, students will learn about different aspects of Birds like:
- About bird watching
- Watch different bird species
- Get technical knowledge
- Physiology and migration of birds
- They will tour of different places to watch movement of birds
The course has its benefits from the point of the view of employment generation. Students, after completion of the course have the chance of getting employed with the Forest and Eco Tourism sector as an Environmental Consultant. Many birds, like the Greater Flamingo migrate from different parts of the world to Ajmer's Ana Sagar Lake after every two years or so. Around 50 birds of different species have been identified so far. Some of them are:
- White Throated
- Little Stent
- Common Teal
- Little Green Heron
- Rough
- Greater Flamingo
- Kingfisher
