13 Colleges Receive Mangalore University Affiliation for 2019-20

Mangalore University has granted affiliation to 13 new colleges for 2019-20. The new colleges will offer unique courses such as B.Sc (Hospital Science), diploma in radiotherapy technology etc.

13 Colleges Receive Mangalore University Affiliation for 2019-20

In the fourth general meeting of the academic council of Mangalore University held on 18th March in Mangalore, the council granted affiliation to 13 new colleges under Mangalore University. Though 14 colleges did not apply for affiliations however with the affiliation granted to 13 colleges, there are now 209 colleges under the affiliation of Mangalore University. The university has affiliated 178 private, 37 government and 11 permanently affiliated colleges previously in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Kodagu districts of Karnataka.

The university has recently set up 36 LiC or Local Inspection Committees whose work is to conduct surveys in those 209 colleges in terms of infrastructure, academics and observe if the colleges are eligible for renewing affiliation or not. The committee also works to bring those 14 colleges which did not apply for affiliation under the affiliation of Mangalore University.

The LiCs will also inspect the colleges to see if they need any financial help to extend, develop and for other academic purposes. The committee conducts these surveys every 5 years.

The Colleges that were granted affiliation of Mangalore University are, Chanakya College, Gloria College, Markazhul Huda College, SS Degree College, Tejaswini College of Yoga Science and Therapy, Ambika College, Mangalore Institute of Oncology, Varasiddhi Vinayaka First Grade College, Vidyalaxmi Group of Institutions, Mangala College of Speech and Hearing, Indian Design School at Attavar, Mangaluru, Anjuman First Grade College and Nitte Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Studies.

The recognised colleges are also expected to offer many offbeat courses such as radiotherapy, B.Sc (Hospital Science) approved by the University Grants Council of India.
