After a round of assessment done by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), has been given the highest rank - 'A'.
This accreditation will remain with the institute, for the next five years
UGC created an autonomous body in order to keep a check and access educational institutions providing higher education in India. This autonomous body was given the name of NAAC.
Before providing Manipal University with the highest rank- ‘A’, it was assessed by a team of 17 academicians, who visited its campus in Bangalore and Manipal. The assessment was done on the basis of the following aspects:
- Teaching
- Learning and evaluation,
- Research,
- Consultancy and extension,
- Infrastructure
- Learning resources
- Student support and progression
- Governance
- Leadership and management
- Innovations and best practices
Keeping all these factors in mind, NAAC judges the institutes and provide them with grades- A, B, C and D with every grade denoting different markings i.e A- very good, B- good, C- satisfactory and D- unsatisfactory.
On receiving NAAC ’A’ Grade, Presidents and Chancellor, Dr. Ramdas M. Pai said that the institute is very happy on this new accreditation and they have always focussed on maintaining excellent standards.
On the same, Dr. H.Vinod Bhat, the Vice-Chancellor said that this accreditation will boost the institute to achieve more excellence. Also, they are focussing on improving their global ranking and international accreditations.
He also mentioned that after receiving this accreditation, they can now look forward to the growth of the university and setting up its campus in abroad and expanding the campus in Bangalore.
