Lucknow University has declared that toppers of the one-year Bachelors and Masters in Education programmes will not be awarded medals during the convocation. The convocation ceremony is scheduled to be held on January 2017.
A K Sharma, Examination Controller, LU, said that NCTE had decided to implement the old system 2015. According to the old system, the duration of B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses will be two years. He further added that the university has also shifted back to the old course duration, therefore no medals will be awarded to 2016’s best students as the session concludes on July 2017.
He informed that according to the ordinance of B. Ed/M. Ed course, medals are awarded to the toppers after they have completed their two-year course. On the other hand, students who finish their one-year course will be felicitated in a similar fashion as the students of previous years.
The batch enrolled in 2015 will be felicitated at the convocation ceremony scheduled for 2018. Both B.Ed and M.Ed batches are awarded two medals each. Two toppers from each course will be decorated with these medals for their academic excellence.
The university is yet to come to a decision regarding the Chancellor's gold medal and Dr. Chakravarti gold medal. A meeting of the university officials will be held on December 29, 2016, to discuss the matter. Students who have applied for these two medals will have to get the required documents verified by December 29, 2016.
