NEET Admissions: SC Orders Combined Counselling in Maharashtra

The Supreme Court has ordered the government of Maharashtra to conduct combined medical counselling for the vacant seats in the state. Students felt a sigh of relief with the decision of SC. The court also mentioned that the admissions which have been carried out so far would not get affected. According to reports, 85% of medical seats are filled in the state.

The court has ordered the state government to complete the admission process by October 7, 2016. However, deemed universities argue that the state government is violating the fundamental right to administer institutions across the state and hold individual counselling for students.

In another verdict given by SC, the court has refused to interfere in the medical admissions which were already made by the state government of Kerala.
