Some of the NEET aspirants have filed a petition in Supreme Court to postpone the date of NEET-UG 2017 that is scheduled to take place on May 7, 2017. The petitioners claimed that UP board exams and CBSE board examinations would be ending barely in time before the NEET that will take place in the first week of May. Therefore, they filed the petition for the extension of the date.
The petitioners from Lucknow explained that UP board exams will conclude on April 21 and CBSE exams will end on April 29, 2017. The students who are appearing for these exams will not have much time to prepare for NEET-UG 2017. Without enough preparation, the students may not be able to get good ranks which will, in turn, affect their career.

Aspirants claimed that they need to revise and prepare the subjects of Class XI and Class XII for NEET-UG 2017. The CBSE Class 12 examinations will continue until April 29, 2017, and there is only one week to cover up the syllabus of Class XI, which is not enough. Therefore, the government shall rethink on the NEET-UG 2017 exam date.
