NMIMS Signs MoUs with 7 Leading Corporates to Generate Skilled Manpower

NMIMS has signed MoUs with various corporates to reduce the resources gap between the growing demand and the short supply of skilled manpower.

NMIMS Signs MoU with Corporates

NMIMS has signed an MoU with seven leading corporates across various sectors to generate skilled manpower and reduce the gap between the growing demand and short supply.

The 7 corporates include - Sri Bioaesthetics Private Limited, Hyderabad, The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid-Tropics (ICRISAT), Patancheru (Telangana), Technology India Technology Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad, Varsha Bioscience, Prathista Industries Limited, Hyderabad, Tripura Biotech Limited, Hyderabad, Vaishnavi Biotech Limited, Hyderabad, Agri Life, Sangareddy (Telangana).

The parties will come together to provide training and consulting services to produce technical and managerial manpower. This is a part of the MoUs and applies to all campuses and all these corporates.

According to the agreement, all NMIMS campuses and these corporates will help in academic and research collaboration for mutually accepted subjects, leading to student and faculty visits or exchanges. Organising joint workshops, knowledge sharing, conducting seminars, conferences and training programmes is also a part of the agenda.

Dr. Tapan Kumar Panda, Director of NMIMS, Hyderabad, thanked all the partners for giving the institute this chance to contribute to human resource and skill development for India's agriculture sector. He hopes that this initiative will help in filling in the gap by creating a relationship with all my partners in various aspects of academics, research, and training across all sectors.”

The agriculture sector is second when it comes to contributing towards the state GDP. The agriculture share in total employment has reached 39.4% which is in stark contrast to manufacturing as that has dropped down to 7.3%. The rate of unemployment in rural areas is 1.3% and in urban areas, it is 6.9%. The unskilled workforce in agriculture is 85% v/s the global average of 44%.

According to a release by the university, the industry-academia partnership will lead to consistency as far as the supply of skilled workforce is concerned in this fast-emerging agri-tech and agri-business sectors in Telangana.
