Students Pursuing Graduation and Postgraduation Courses Eligible for Rajya Sabha Internship

The Rajya Sabha internship duration will be 2 months and will commence during this year's summer vacations. Interns to receive a monthly stipend of 10,000 rupees.

Rajya Sabha Internship 2020 Application

Students pursuing graduation and postgraduation courses can apply for Rajya Sabha internship which will help them understand how the Indian Parliament works. The students will be offered this internship under a scheme called Rajya Sabha Research and Study (RSRS). The internship will be conducted over a duration of two months and will be conducted during the summer vacation.

A total of 10 students will be selected for this internship who will receive a stipend of INR 10,000 per month. The last date to apply for the Rajya Sabha internship is 31st March 2020.

The Rajya Sabha Research and Study (RSRS) scheme was introduced in the year 2009 whose objective is to encourage research on different facets of Indian Parliamentary Democracy. As per an official statement released in June 2019, the scheme aims at promoting research/empirical/comparative study of the Parliament’s functioning and other democratic institutions and analysing what part they played in the socio-economic transformation of the country and ensure the utility of the research study to the functioning of the Parliament.

Other than this internship, some Fellowships are also offered by the Rajya Sabha. State Legislatures/Former Members of Parliament and State Legislature Secretariats/Former Officers of Parliament are also for the Fellowship in addition to the Scholars who have relevant educational experience/qualification to undertake the study that fulfils the objective of the Scheme.

The Fellowship duration is 18 months and will be entitled to a contingency grant of 50,000 rupees in addition to the grant amount of 8 lakh rupees.
