SC, ST and OBC Candidates with Minimum 50% Marks in Master’s Eligible for NET

The University Grants Grants Commissions has stated to all the candidates that the minimum qualifying marks to appear for NET are 50% in Master’s Degree from any recognized university or institution.

The Union HRD Ministry announced that the candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC category are eligible for National Eligibility Test (NET) only if they have at least 50% of marks in Master’s Degree. The information has been shared by one of the HRD ministers of state, Mr. Mahendra Nath Pandey in Loksabha.

The University Grants Commissions has stated that the minimum qualifying marks to appear for NET are 50% in Master’s Degree from any recognized university or institution.

According to the 4th Amendment of UGC Regulations 2016, it is prescribed that 5% relaxation be done in the minimum eligibility marks for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories, for direct recruitment to teaching positions.

The UGC NET examination for the year 2016 was conducted on 10-July-2016. The answer key for the examination will be released soon. The candidates who failed to attend the examination in July can enrol for the examination scheduled to be conducted in December 2016.
