Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Guwahati Campus organised the 3rd convocation for ite M.Phil, MA and BA programmes on May 27. The programme was held at the Machkhowa ITA Centre. A total of 152 students graduated during the convocation of which, 3 received their M.Phil degrees, 94 received their MA degrees and 52 received their BA degrees.
Prof Sanjoy Hazarika, Director, Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research, Jamia Milia Islamia, honoured the programme as the chief guest of the event wherein he delivered the convocation speech for the students. In his speech, he stressed on the need for compassion and understanding among those people who live in multi-cultural settings. He also advised the fresh graduates to live up to the values that they inculcated from the institute in their near future.
The event was also attended by Prof Dhruba Jyoti Saikia, Vice Chancellor of Cotton College State University who cited the aims and objectives of Tata Institute of Social Sciences Guwahati and highlighted the efforts of the institute in the field of education, training, research and other activities in the eight states of the North East. He said that the institute has made a significant contribution to policy, planning, action strategies and human resource development over the time.
