The IIT Goa Campus was inaugurated by Human Resources Department Minister Prakash Javadekar. After the inauguration which took place on 30th July’ 16, Saturday, Javadekar said that the IITs are not getting the recognition they deserve. He also said that though IITs have a name in the world but they do not have a rank. This is the issue that will be resolved under his supervision.
The Minister wants to technologically update the institutes and for that the HRD ministry will make an agenda. He mentioned in his speech that the coaching centres are taking full advantage of the increased competition and are blooming like a flower in monsoon. It is time to stop them from exploiting the students and for this they are coming up with a new scheme, "IIT Pal". Through IIT Pal students can get free lectures, study material and expert advice regardless of where they are because all this will be telecasted on TV using D2H.
Making the education system strong and reliable is his only motive and for that he studied the whole criteria as to how IITs can attain good rank. He found out that almost 40 percent marks are given on the basis of perception and then he decided to work on the perception of the institutes. HRD has decided to bring qualified faculty from abroad under the scheme- Gyan Initiative. Almost 600 professors are chosen and more than 200 will be coming to India this academic year only.
