Total Number of Candidates Registered for CUET 2022

The Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Shri Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar has just declared that more than 9.8 lakh candidates have registered for CUET 2022. Check when the application portal closes and more here.

  1. What is the CUET exam? 

The registration process for the CUET Exam 2022 is still an ongoing process. Till now, there have been a total of 9,81,406 registrations done on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 registration portal, out of which around 7,39,027 applicants have successfully submitted their application forms. This has all been confirmed by a statement from the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar. 

The conducting body of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), the National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for registration to accommodate all the other aspirants who still wish to register for the examination to May 22, 2022.

Earlier, Mr. Kumar had stated on his official Twitter account that he was extending the registration to provide opportunity to all aspirants so that they can have enough time to complete their registration procedure for the CUET Exam 2022. 

On his Twitter handle, Mr. Kumar wrote – “We are extending the last date for application submission for Common University Entrance Test (CUET) up to 22-05-2022. We hope that this will provide additional opportunity to the students to apply for CUET. Wish you all good luck.”

What is the CUET exam? 

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is a newly introduced examination that will serve as the screening platform for admission to the UG programmes in all the central universities for the academic session 2022-23. This has been decided by the Ministry of Education (MoE). According to the NTA, this move has been taken to bring parity between rural and urban students who wish to pursue undergraduate degrees in the reputed central universities in the country. It will be fair, efficient and will try to bridge existing social and financial gaps.
