The UGC or University Grants Commission has directed all the higher education institutes and universities to send photos & videos along with reports on events organised by them as a part of International Yoga Day on June 21, 2017. Last year, the UGC informed all the varsities to prepare an elaborate plan for the International Yoga Day celebrations that include mass Yoga performance, lectures, discourses and talks by eminent experts.
Now, the UGC wants all the varsities and higher learning institutes to submit reports and upload videos & photographs of the events conducted by them.

The third edition of International Yoga Day began at 6:00 AM on June 21, 2017, and the celebrations were flagged off by PM of India, Shri. Narendra Modi at Lucknow. Honourable PM performed Yoga along with CM of Uttar Pradesh and 51,000 participants. Various countries across the globe also lined up events and programmes as a part of International Yoga Day.
On this occasion, PM of India indicated that Yoga had played a significant role in connecting the world with India. Yoga is not an expensive affair to practice, and it is all about health assurance. He further stated that Yoga is something through which we can achieve wellness. He urged every Indian to make Yoga a part of his/ her life.

Giving his valuable message on International Yoga Day, President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee mentioned that enthusiastic elderly people, youth and children could practice yoga regularly. Practising Yoga regularly not only provides physical fitness but also a sound mind.
Interestingly Indo-Tibetan Border Police performed Yoga at a freezing temperature of -25 degrees in Ladakh on June 21, 2017.
