Candidates belonging to the General/EWS Category need to get 40% in both papers to pass the examination. For the OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender category, candidates need to attain 35% in both papers for the same. If candidates find any errors in the results, they should contact the authorities to request corrections. The result will be formulated based on the answers provided in the final answer key, after careful consideration of the candidates' objections to the provisional key.
After the result is released, qualified candidates must download and save the scorecard for offline access, check the subject-wise cutoff marks, prepare documents for certificate verification, and start preparing a research proposal (for JRF candidates).

What are the key differences between the 3 Result Categories?
NTA classifies results into three distinct categories on your scorecard:
- Category 1: Eligible for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD admission.

- Category 3: Eligible for PhD admission only. If you fall into Category 2 or 3, your NET marks will contribute 70% weightage toward your PhD admission, while the remaining 30% will be based on your interview performance at the university level.

Is the UGC NET certificate valid for recruitment in private universities?
Yes, the UGC NET Assistant Professor certificate is the national standard for teaching eligibility and is recognized by all Central, State, and Private Universities in India. Can I apply for a re-evaluation of my UGC NET 2025 marks?
No, NTA explicitly states that there is no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of the UGC NET results. Since the exam is a Computer Based Test (CBT) and the final answer keys are reviewed by a panel of experts after the challenge window, the scores generated are considered final. Any grievance regarding the questions must have been raised during the "Answer Key Challenge" window, which closed on January 17, 2026.

Is the JRF age limit relaxation applicable for the December 2025 cycle?
Yes, the JRF age limit for the General (Unreserved) category is 30 years as of December 1, 2025. 5 years for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates (up to 35 years). Additionally, LLM degree holders receive a 3-year relaxation, and research experience can grant up to 5 years of relaxation. Note that there is absolutely no upper age limit for those applying only for the Assistant Professor eligibility.

Why is my result status showing as "Withheld"?
A "Withheld" status on the UGC NET result usually occurs due to administrative reasons, such as suspected use of unfair means, incomplete documentation, or a mismatch in the Aadhaar verification provided during the application. In some cases, results are withheld if a candidate filled out multiple application forms for the same cycle. If your result is withheld, you will likely receive a formal communication from NTA, or you may need to submit a representation to the NTA office in New Delhi for clearance.

What does the "Qualifying Status" on the 2025 scorecard indicate?

Can we expect the Law (058) JRF cutoff to touch the 220-mark mark?
The Law paper for December 2025 has been described as "lengthy but manageable." In the latest cycle, the Unreserved JRF cutoff reached 218 marks. For the current result, experts suggest it could touch or even exceed 220–224 marks if the top percentile scores are high.
