UGC Launches New Internship Scheme for Students

UGC has issued a notification to all universities stating that the National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC) has started an internship scheme for the students and young professionals in chemical safety and security. All the information about the internship is on the official website of NACWC.

According to reports, the NACWC has been established under the Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India for meeting the requirements of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). As per the UGC release the NACWC internship scheme will look at offering short-term exposure to shortlisted candidates with the National Authority as interns and motivate them in the process to serve the National Authority/Chemical Industry and train young professionals and students in CWC. This will help prevent the misuse of toxic chemicals and help in preparing a trained workforce for the chemical facilities.

The universities are required to encourage the young professionals/students to take part in the internship scheme and gain knowledge in the areas of chemical safety and security in future, and also to promote the initiative among the students and display the internship scheme in the college or the campus of the respective universities.
