West Bengal Board of Secondary Education is expected to announce the Class 10 result by the end of May 2018 and Class 12 results in the month of June. Although the board has not given out the official dates regarding the release of results for class 10 (Madhyamik) and class 12 (Higher Secondary), it is anticipated that results will be declared by 10 June 2018.
Similar to last year, the number of girls appearing for the Madhyamik West Bengal Board Exams for Class 10 was more than the boys. More than 6 lakh girls sat for the board exams which took place from 12th to 21st March 2018. The percentage of girls comprised 56% of the total examinees. SImultaneously, in the class 12 board exams of the state, the number of girls who appeared in the examination was way higher than boys.
It was for the first time that the board exams were also conducted in Santhali - Ol Chiki script. Around 832 students took the board examinations in Ol Chiki script.
Additionally, a large number of students of class 12 could not appear in several papers, especially those belonging to the areas of West Burdwan, as communal riots broke out.
In 2017, the overall pass percentage in Class 12 board exam was 80 %. The pass percentage of the girls was 80% whereas it was 79% for the boys.
WBBSE also introduced several security measures in the examination centers to avoid copying and cheating cases this year.
