Good news for those who plan to pursue a career in the field of Information Technology! If a new study is to be believed, there is a chance that more than 14 lakh IT jobs will be generated in India by the year 2027, all thanks to the growing demand for professionals with digital transformation skills in various organisations across different industries.

A Cisco-led study says that India is expected to witness a whopping 46% growth in IT jobs due to the increasing demand for a skilled workforce in the IT sector. Emerging technologies like Big Data, Cyber Security, and Internet of things (IoT) has created roles in organisations that are now seeking certified IT professionals.

According to the study, among other jobs that will gain a lot of popularity in the coming years include social media administrator, IoT designer and Machine Learning designer.

The study showed that 89% of the recruiting managers prefer candidates with certifications. Also, 88% of customers found improvement in the services and support provided to end users.

Another important finding of the study was that around one-fifth of the employees opted for self-funded certification, whereas 50% of them were a part of a training programme in 2017. The reason for them to take up the programmes was the growing importance of the technological landscape, which is changing at a very rapid pace.

It also revealed that the skill set required in the digital age has changed for most of the industries. Apart from that, the way people work has also transformed. As a result, IT companies will find it difficult to fill the important roles.

Cisco has been a pioneer in offering certification courses. It offers some of the most popular IT certification courses, which were one of the prerequisites for more 5 million new jobs in the year 2017. Cisco, the global networking giant, commissioned International Data Corporation (IDC) to conduct this study.
