50 Students from Same School in Tamil Nadu Qualify for SRCC
50 students from the same school in Tamil Nadu have qualified for SRCC this year.
Apart from the astonishing fact that 110 of the total 160 students who have been offered admission into SRCC are from Tamil Nadu, what’s more surprising is that 50 out of those 110 students are of the same school i.e Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Erode state of Tamil Nadu which has left many, including the faculty of this prominent institution bedazzled on how a single school can produce so many students successful in clearing the sky-high cut-offs set by SRCC.
On the same, SRCC Principal, R P Rastogi commented, "All admissions have been done on merit."
Though this is not the case with some of the internal staff of SRCC. They said that they are very doubtful of the same as many of the Tamil Nadu aspirants have failed to answer to some of the basic questions asked from them. According to the teachers, these students are very average as compared to the marks scored by them. The SRCC admissions depend on the marks scored by the students in their class 12th examination.
The school has earned its reputation as one of the top-notch schools by sending about 36 of its students to SRCC last year, while 28 of its students qualified for SRCC year earlier explained N S Karthikeyan, principal, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
According to the records, the school had 162 students in the commerce stream last year and out of them, 53 students secured 100% in commerce, 61 in accountancy, 48 in business maths and 11 in economics.
Since many students were not able to answer the questions asked by SRCC teachers, there has been speculations on schools focussing on rote method of learning, to which Karthikeyani replied that maybe the way in which the SRCC teachers asked the questions was not familiar to the students.
