55-Year-Old Rajasthani Resumes Studies, Gives B.A. Exam

Mr. Phool Singh Meena, a 55-year-old Udaipur MLA proved that age is no bar for pursuing education. His noble step to pursue higher studies at the age of 55 might be an inspiration to students and enlighten them about the significance of education.

Mr. Phool Singh Meena who left studies 40 years ago has decided to take up at the age 55 due to the constant support and encouragement from his five daughters. With the same support, he appeared forfirst-year B.A. exams.

Mr. Phool Singh discontinued his studies after Class 7 to take up the family responsibilities. His father who was an army officer died when Mr. Phool Singh was in Class 7. With a motive to look after the family, Mr. Phool Singh took up farming.

Due to his hard work and dedication to serve the society, Mr. Phool Singh became a counsellor. The daughters of Mr. Singh urged him to take up higher studies so that it would be easy for her father to interact with senior officials and leaders. They felt that education is vital for political leaders.

However, Mr. Phool Singh did not take up higher studies. He realised theimportance of educationwhen he was invited to address the students on various occasion. Therefore, he decided to continue the education, and with the same tempo, he cleared Class 10 and Class 12 exams.

Apart from education, Mr. Phool Singh Meena has been successful in his political career. At present, he holds the position of MLA for Udaipur Rural constituency. Mr. Lunawat – Principal of Government Senior Secondary School near Udaipur is the teacher of Mr. Phool Singh.

Mr. Lunawat used to teach Mr. Phool Singh while travelling from one place to another place in the constituency. Since Mr. Phool Singh was busy to attend the classes, he used to hear audio lessons on Whats App that were sent by Mr. Lunawat.

Mr. Lunawat expressed that MLA shows extreme dedication towards the education even at the age of 55. Mr. Phool Singh’s aim is to continue his education up toPh.D.level, he added.
