Aadhar Card Number Mandatory to Register for CBSE Board Exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE has made Aadhar number compulsory for students to register in Class 9 and Class 11 to appear in the Board exams in the next academic session. A circular was issued by CBSE on September 26, 2017, to all its affiliated schools on the same. CBSE has laid certain rules and guidelines for the registration of Class 9 and Class 11 students.

According to the circular issued by CBSE, all affiliated schools must complete the pre-registration before proceeding for online registration. While registering the students, the schools have to mention their affiliation number. Similarly, all the newly affiliated schools must contact the concerned CBSE Regional Office for obtaining affiliation number.

Mandatory Aadhar rule for registering in Class 9 and Class 12 has been implemented for the first time by CBSE. If the students do not have an Aadhar number, they can produce their Aadhar ‘Enrollment Number’. It is mandatory to submit the bank account details if the Aadhar ‘Enrollment Number’ is not available.

Foreign nationals who wish to register for Class 9 or Class 11 in India, must submit the Passport Number/ Social Security Number/ ID Number.

All the students who registered for Class 9 must appear for board examination in 2018.

Recently, CBSE has restructured the assessment system for Class 10. According to the revamped system, 80 marks will be allocated for the theory part of the exam and 20 marks for internal assessment. All the students must score 33% of marks in theory and internal assessment separately to pass Class 10.
