TheAmrita Institute of Medical Sciencesin Kochi has signed aMoUwithHarvard Medical School. The main aim of these two institutes coming together is to promote best practices and enhance research in the areas such as Pain Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Critical Care.
As per theMoUbetween the two, it will promote and identify research opportunities forjoint research programmes. It also aims at conductingexchange programmefor students and faculty from both the institutes so that they can gain global exposure and knowledge about research methods and techniques.

As per the reports, a team fromHarvard Medical School’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center- BIDMC visited the institute to sign the MoU. The team of Harvard Medical School consisted of members such as Dr. Daniel S Talmon, Chief of the Department of Anesthesia; Dr. Peter J. Panzica, Vice Chief of the Department of Anaesthesia at BIDMC and Satya Krishna Ramachandran, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at BIDMC.

Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director,Amrita Institutestated that the collaboration between the two prestigious institutes would beneficial for medical students and medical education. It will also enhance research in India and will provide the students with relevant career opportunities. It will also benefit the sectors such as basic science, public health, clinical care, general medicine and multidisciplinary research. The collaboration will also improve the global ranking of the institute.
