Aspirants of CS Prelims 2016 Complain about Excessive Current Affairs' Questions

Many students who appeared for the Civil Services (preliminary) Examination 2016 said that there were quite a lot of questions on current affairs.

96 centers were set up for the 40,000 students who appeared for the exam. Aspirants of the Union Public Service Commission said that there was an excess of current affairs and relatively fewer questions related to subjects like Geography and Indian Constitution.

Harkaran Singh Vaid, who appeared for the civil service exam said that the exam pattern came as a surprise to students and that it was completely different from the exam conducted in 2015. He further added that last year’s paper had a lot of questions on Geography and environment which were not there in the 2016 exam. He informed that questions based on economics were related to the world current affairs.

Harpreet Singh, another candidate who appeared said that even though the theme of the exam was current affairs, it was unexpected to see the exam so full of such questions. He also said that the exam usually has 10-12 questions based on geography, history and Indian Constitution.

The exam this year covered current affairs, law, social and economic law, system and governance and aspects related to these.

All the administrative positions in the various All India Services and Central Civil Services are filled through the Civil Services Exam. All the IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS, and IRTS are selected through this exam. The main examination is scheduled for December 3.
