Bihar Board Exams: Students Clearing Entrance Test to Get Priority in Scrutiny
- BSEB has announced that the students who have cleared the medical or engineering entrance test but have not been able to qualify 12th board examination will be given priority.
- The re-evaluation process for other students will be completed by June 30.
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced that the students who have successfully cleared the medical or engineering entrance test but have not been able to qualify the class 12 board examination of the state will be given priority in terms of re-evaluation of their answer books.
Anand Kishor, the chairman of BSEB revealed to the reporters that the candidates qualifying the competitive examinations in medical, engineering or any other entrance exam will get priority in the scrutiny of marks they have applied for. He ensured the rectification procedure will be finished by June 30 for the remaining students who have applied for scrutiny of marks in any subject so that no one loses an opportunity to get admission in colleges this year.

He also informed that the application fee for the re-evaluation of the answer sheets has been reduced from Rs. 120 to Rs. 70 per subject.
Speaking about the students who have got poor results in the intermediate examination of the state, Kishor said that the process of conducting compartmental exams in all subjects would be completed between 3rd July to 13th July. He added that the application form for appearing in the compartmental examination will be available online from 8th June to 14th June. This year, the provisions for appearing in two subjects have been made, unlike previous years where the students were allowed to appear a single subject only.
This year, Bihar has witnessed terrible results in the class 12th board examination with the pass percentage of 35 per cent only. Responding to the reports revealing that the reason for the dismal result is the evaluation is done by unqualified teachers, Kishore told that the BSEB board has laid certain rules according to which the answer sheets of class 12 are evaluated by a PG degree holders while that of class 10 is checked by a graduate teacher. He added that strict action will be taken if this violation is noticed anywhere.

There have been many cases where a student has done really well in the tough competitive exam but have obtained only 2 - 4 marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the state board examination.
On the age controversy of Ganesh, the Chairman said that the database of all students from the year 1986 to the year 2017 will be prepared and uploaded online. He also informed about the de-duplication software that has been developed to catch any student who tries to re-appear in the exam by faking documents like age among others.
