Similar to last year, the topper swindle in Bihar board examinations has brought disrepute to the state once again. The topper of Bihar board examinations Ganesh Kumar failed to answer even basic questions from his subject. Commenting on the issue, Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. Nitish Kumar revealed that some people who have been spoiling the reputation and image of the state. He further indicated that the state government has been taking steps for improving the education system in the state.

The Patna police have arrested the HM of Sanjiv Gandhi High School who involved with forgery with the intermediate arts topper Ganesh Kumar. He completed his matriculation from the same school in the year 2015. On June 2, 2017, the police arrested the arts topper Ganesh Kumar on the charge of submitting forged documents and fudging his date of birth. The court ordered judicial custody for 14 days.
The topper fraud of Bihar came to limelight when a TV channel interviewed Ganesh Kumar. He failed to answer even basic questions from the subject ‘Music’. Among the wrong answers, Ganesh Kumar identified Lata Mangeshkar as ‘Maithili Kokila’. Actually, the title is bestowed on Sharda Sinha, a folk singer.

The same incident took place last year where the topper of intermediate (Class 12) examinations in Humanities stream Ruby Rai had pronounced the name of her favourite subject Political Science as ‘Prodigal Science’. The most surprising thing was that she explained that Political Science dealt with cooking.
