The Government of Bihar has decided to reduce the cut-off mark for SCs aspiring to join M.Ed (Master of Education) course in colleges and universities across the state. The information pertaining to same was informed in the State Assembly on March 06, 2018.

MLA Shyam Rajak has informed the state assembly that only two SC students were able to secure admission in the M.Ed course for the academic session 2016-17 out of 50 reserved seats in colleges and universities across the state. Stating the reasons, he pointed that the cut-off for M.Ed course admission was fixed at 50% for all social groups, and there was no relaxation for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC). Therefore, the 48 reserved category seats that remained vacant during the academic session 2016-17 were filled up by general category students, he added.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Shravan Kumar confirmed that the cut-off for SC students to seek admission in the M.Ed course will be reduced from 50% to 45%. An amendment is under process in this regard. The new rule will come into effect after the amendment is approved by Chancellor. After the approval of the amendment, the state government will issue official guidelines and notification in this regard.

The reduction in cut-off for the M.Ed course will be a great sigh of relief for SC students. The revised cut-off will enable colleges and universities to fill up all the seats in the M.Ed course under reserved category.
