Bihar Govt. To Reduce M.Ed Cut-Off Mark for SCs
- Cut-off for SC students seeking admission in M.Ed courses has been reduced and official notification in this regard will be issued soon.
- SC students seeking admission to M.Ed course in universities of Bihar can now take admission at 45% marks.
TheGovernment of Biharhas decided to reduce thecut-off markfor SCs aspiring to joinM.Ed (Master of Education) coursein colleges and universities across the state. The information pertaining to same was informed in the State Assembly on March 06, 2018.
MLA Shyam Rajak has informed the state assembly that only twoSC studentswere able to secure admission in the M.Ed course for the academic session 2016-17 out of 50 reserved seats in colleges and universities across the state. Stating the reasons, he pointed that the cut-off for M.Ed course admission was fixed at 50% for all social groups, and there was no relaxation for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC). Therefore, the 48 reserved category seats that remained vacant during theacademic session 2016-17were filled up bygeneral category students, he added.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Shravan Kumar confirmed that the cut-off forSC studentsto seek admission in the M.Ed course will be reduced from 50% to 45%. An amendment is under process in this regard. The new rule will come into effect after the amendment is approved by Chancellor. After the approval of the amendment, thestate governmentwill issue official guidelines and notification in this regard.
The reduction incut-off for the M.Ed coursewill be a great sigh of relief for SC students. The revised cut-off will enablecolleges and universitiesto fill up all the seats in the M.Ed course underreserved category.
