Centre for Disability Studies to Come Up at Delhi University
- A Centre for Disability Studies will be established at the University of Delhi soon.
- It will work in collaboration with various academic departments of the varsity to introduce bachelor’s, masters and research programmes.
With an objective to promote research in the field of disability, theUniversity of Delhiis planning to establish aCentre for Disability Studies. The centre will work in association with various academic departments of the varsity to introduce bachelor’s, masters and research programmes run by departments on their own or through colleges.
According to reports, only postgraduate programmes and diploma courses in the field of disability will be offered at the centre. It will act as aresource centre in disability studiesand other related fields - both for students and the faculty of the university and outside. Bipin Tiwari, OSD, Equal Opportunity Cell, Delhi University is the secretary of the panel which will work towards establishing the centre and supervising infrastructure and other facilities of the centre.

Delhi University has sought comments from stakeholders regarding the same by 7th June. Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi made the announcement about setting up a centre fordisability studies.According to him, the establishment of the centre will promote new research and academic programmes in this respective field.
