Colleges & Universities to go Cashless in Haryana: Education Minister

With an objective to promote digital transactions, the Higher Education Department of Haryana prepared an action plan through which teaching and non-teaching staff of various colleges and universities would be brought under cashless payment system.

Ram Bilas Sharma, Education Minister of Haryana, announced that all the colleges and universities across the state would go cashless. With an objective to promote digital transactions, the Higher Education Department of Haryana prepared an action plan through which teaching and non-teaching staff of various colleges and universities would be brought under cashless payment system.

Similarly, students can also adopt digital transactions for paying college, examination and other fees. On the other hand, the students must educate the people on how to use digital payment systems.

He further added that as directed by University Grants Commission (UGC), the colleges and universities must start an awareness campaign on digital payments from December 12, 2016, which will continue for one month.

The NSS and NCC units of the college have to take the responsibility to creating awareness among the people on online payments. They will educate the people with the facts that online payments are safe and secure. Additionally, camps will be organised in various areas across the state to educate the people.

He indicated that all the residents of the state shall be urged to extend their cooperation in fulfilling the state government’s desire to go cashless.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar directed all the higher educational institutions to go cashless and reiterated that they shall play a significant role in boosting the ‘Digital India’ initiative. Both of them clarified that demonetization is a positive move which further makes the citizens go cashless and bring transparency in the system.
