Coronavirus Impact: West Bengal to Promote Class 11 Students to Class 12

WBCHSE or the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has decided to promote all students of class 11th to next grade for the new academic session. In a notification released by WBCHSE, it stated that the announcement has been made keeping in mind the declaration made by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, and the instructions of the Hon’ble Minister in Charge, Education Department, Government of West Bengal.

The notification announced that for the current academic year, all the students of class 11th will be promoted to class 12th. It further said that the marks obtained in the completed examination of class 11th are to be sent in the format following the norms of the past year within June 22, 2020, to the council. It can either be sent to the regional office through post or preferably via e-mail to wbhsexam@gmail.com.

WBCHSE has appealed to the Institutional Heads to preserve the unused blank answer sheets of class 11th. It claims that after the declaration of a proper notification, the council will collect it from them.

According to the most recent announcement made by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, the West Bengal class 12th or HS examinations have been postponed and will be conducted in the month of June 2020 amid the breakout of the coronavirus pandemic. The entire timetable of the remaining examination will be released on the official website of the board after the nation-wide lockdown is lifted.

Mamta Banerjee has also previously stated that the students of class 11th and the college students will be promoted to the next grade and semesters respectively without conducting exams. It is to be noted that the Madhyamik or the class 10th Examinations conducted by the WBCHSE had been concluded earlier and the evaluation of the exam papers is underway.
