In order to resolve the disparity issues related to different board exam results,Delhi Universityis planning to start an aptitude testfor students from boards other thanCBSE. Admission through entrance exams can prove to be a difficult mode of admission toDU undergraduate courses. However,DU has not released the admission guidelines yet.

According to the University, the aptitude will help in reducing the disparity that is caused by marks moderation practiced by variousstate boardsof education. According to the reports, a sub-committee has been deliberating on the idea from the past few days. The report regarding the same will be forwarded to the Delhi University once the plan is finalized in the next meeting.

Students has expressed their discontentment when CBSE decided to do away with themarks moderation policyin 2017. The board had also requested theHRD Ministryto ask state boards to do away with marks moderation. However, only a few states complied.

If CBSE had scrapped the marks moderation policy, there would have been a disparity in marks that would have created a setback for CBSE students during thecut-off based admission procedure.

Until now, Delhi University conducted entrance examinations for a few courses offered by a selected number of colleges. Conducting aptitude exam for more than 3 lakh students will be a challenging task for the University. Reports also suggest that DU lacks theinfrastructureto conduct anentrance examat such a huge scale.
