Delhi University Revised Curriculum Open for Public Review
Delhi University has revised its curriculum for 75 undergraduate courses and all the courses will be available for public review until 31st May 2019. The university is open for feedback from the public and stakeholders.
The University of Delhi has revised its curriculum for 75 Undergraduate courses. Around 28 departments have uploaded their revised curriculum. All the courses are open for public review until 31st May 2019. DU is seeking feedback regarding the same from the general public, public sector experts, academicians. Out of all the departments, the Department of Home Science has revised the curriculum for the maximum number of courses.
The revised curriculum of Delhi University will encourage the global outlook, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and others among the students.
While the discussion regarding the revision of the curriculum was going on, the faculty, however, do not seem happy with the direction of syllabus revision. A section of the faculties accused the direction as a serious violation of statutory.
Earlier, The Undergraduate Curriculum Revision Committee (UCRC) 2019 of Delhi University has sent a notification to the Indraprastha College for Women and to the academic departments which include Computer Science, Botany, History, Music, Sanskrit, Zoology, Environmental Studies and Microbiology. The council has strictly said to “abide by it”.
According to the directions, the first out of four drafts are asked to be submitted by Friday, 29th of March 2019.
The Undergraduate Curriculum Revision Council has also asked all Head of the Departments (HODs) to make the drafts available in Public domain so that it can seek the feedback of stakeholders.
The circular has claimed that the DU, being one of the prime universities, the revised curriculum of DU will also set a trend for other universities.
Yogesh Tyagi, the VC of DU is being bombarded with letters from the university's Academic Council and the Executive Council on the objectionable manner of asking revision.

The EC and AC members have written to the administration to withdraw the circular. The letter puts light on how undemocratically the direction have come to force as there was no consultation from the statutory body on the direction. The letter asks the VC to withdraw all kinds of communications made.
Although the Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Mr. Yogesh Tyagi has not answered any letter or phone call for a moment.
