The ever-changing Delhi University entrance process is expected to undergo a change again as DU has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct the entrance tests for all the UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D. courses offered by the University of Delhi (DU). Adding to the development, an NTA source has said that the central government agency has already asked the university to send their curriculum terms and conditions for the admission entrance test.

The central agency of National Testing Agency is a body that conducts various examinations throughout the country for different purposes. The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has recently opted for hassle-free computer-based entrance tests of NTA which are set to be conducted from 27th May 2019 or 29th May 2019. DU will be the second central university to opt for the process. Dr. Yogesh K Tyagi, the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University has said that the admission committee of Delhi University might consider the assistance of National Testing Agency for admission process.

The University this year is hopeful regarding the implementation of the computer-based entrance test after two failed attempts for two consecutive years before. In the previous year, the advisory committee and admission committee has said that there are hindrances to conduct the examinations in collaborations with private sectors. Even in 2017, the decision of the computer-based entrance test in DU was called off as student unions pointed out that it would not be rational as the exam was taken for such a short time period.

Currently, for most of the UG level admissions in Delhi University, DU depends on the performance of the 12 board results to release cutoff list. Only 9 UG courses in DU held admission tests. This will not be the case if the NTA backed admission process is implemented.
