DU to Set Up School of Climate Change
DU will be establishing a School of Climate Change and Sustainability (DSCC & S) under the Institute of Eminence scheme. It will be headed by the noted Environmental Scientist, Professor CR Babu.
TheDelhi Universitywill be establishing a School of Climate Change and Sustainability (DSCC&S) soon under the Institute of Eminence Scheme, which will take up research in priority areas related to the environmental challenges. Professor CR Babu, a noted Environmental Scientist will be heading the school as honorary director. Professor Babu was also instrumental in founding the Environmental Teaching and Research in Delhi University according to a statement from the university.
Professor Inderjit Singh who's an internationally acclaimed plant ecologist will be the Joint Director of DSCC&CC. The Ministry of HRD has provided supporting grants to the university under its Institution of Eminence Scheme for taking up research in cutting edge areas with an emphasis on the national development and make the university a world-class university. DSCC&S will deal with research in priority areas such as making the cities climate-resilient or how to achieve sustainability amid environmental challenges.

The school will also be responsible for generating manpower in the areas which deal in managing sustainable development technologies when it comes to energy, resource recycling which also comprise solid waste management, wastewater management and resource enhancement so that development can be made sustainable.
The objective behind setting up the school is to encourage the students and the researchers in experiential learning by making use of the inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary programmes which forms a gap at the level nationally. DU had also planned to set up the School of Public Health in May under the Institution of Eminence scheme.
