FTII to Introduce Film Making Courses at Punjabi University
- FTII Pune and Punjabi University have signed a agreement to start short-term course in film making at Punjabi University.
- This initiative will help aspirants to acquired knowledge and skills required in film making industry.
The centre of advanced media studies (CAMS) at Punjabi University has signed an agreement with Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune to conduct various short-term courses in filmmaking. The university received the proposal from the FTII last week and the university agreed to an agreement on 5 February 2018.
According to the sources, Gurmeet Singh Maan, director CAMS, informed the authorities that FTII has shown their interest in starting a new venture with CAMS, following its flagship scheme of Skill India in Film and Television. SKIFT includes the plan of conducting short-term courses of 3 weeks in acting, fiction writing, screenplay, digital cinematography, choreography and a 7-day course in film appreciation. They will also conduct basic acting courses and workshops for children aged between 10-15 years and 7-10 years for fifteen days at CAMS.

All the arrangments such as faculty, equipment for courses, and technical consumables will be provided by the FTII. Whereas the university will arrange for the airport pick-up of the faculty, travel arrangements and accommodation for them during the course. Such courses at CAMS in collaboration with FTII will provide them with the exposure, skillset and knowledge required for making a career in film industry.
