HRD Ministry to Prepare a 5-year Education Action Plan for the ‘Next Government!’
Stalwarts from different educational and industrial fields came together in a Boot Camp LBSNAA at Mussoorie to draft the next education action plan for the upcoming government post-Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
Amidst the heat of Lok Sabha elections 2019, the Bureaucrats in the Ministry of Human Resource Development or MHRD are busy drafting the revised education plannings with 100 days governance agendas for the next government to come.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has gone a step forward by inviting the stalwarts of the industry to contribute to the next eduction action plan for 5 years. The list includes Amitabh Kant, Niti Aayog CEO; Hasmukh Adhia, former revenue secretary; K.vijay Raghavan, principal scientific advisor; Ajit Balakrishnan, Rediff founder, and Kris Gopalakrishnan, CEO of Infosys.
Sources said that the MHRD Project named EQUIP or Education Quality Upgradation and Inclusion Programme has started rolling already. The program aims to bring transformational changes in the education system in the next 5 years.
The sources informed that a group of ten officials which is led by Adhia, Gopalakrishnan, and Kant has already presented the researched findings mostly on the higher education system which was prepared after massive brainstorming at LBSNAA or Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration situated at Mussorie. The process was conducted from 22nd April to 24t April.
A working group of MHRD will now work to compile the 10 research papers to finalize the plan for the education actions for the next 5 years. The ambitious project is set to be finalised by June 2019.
The National Co-ordinator of RUSA or Rashtriya Ucchtar Shiksha Abhiyan B.Venkatesh Kumar is the coordinator of EQUIP project also.
The group led by Adhia has prepared a very ambitious report of increasing the higher education enrolment ratio to 25 by 2024. The project under the Central University of Gujarat Chancellor is focused on expanding the accessibility of higher education. It also talked about doubling the participation of SC, ST and other backward classes.
‘Internationalisation of Institutes’ is prescribed by the report made by the team under Kant. He suggested making space for at least 10% international students in eminent universities and institutes of India. It also proposed firming up the policies for foreign universities in India and suggested promoting academic collaborations internationally.

The group under Gopalakrishnan put emphasis on more funding in the education sector and he has sought more participation of private universities in this cause.
