The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) has appealed the youth to promote awareness among the citizens regarding e-transactions. Earlier, the ministry has directed all the central universities, IIMs and IITs to go cashless. Mahendra Nath Pandey, State HRD Minister, explained that students from various schools and colleges have to train two shopkeepers and five families in their neighbourhood on digital payments. For this purpose, the ministry will issue a set of guidelines to all the educational institutes on this regard.

He further added that India has around 7.5 crore students and at least two crore students have to play in significant role in training the senior citizens to adopt cashless transactions. On the other hand, training two shopkeepers and five families in their neighbourhood is not a difficult task for the students. He cited that PM Narendra Modi wants all the higher educational institutions to adopt cashless transactions.

‘Digital Revolution’ has been taking place in the country and the government is also encouraging people to go cashless to boost ‘Digital India’ initiative. The government wants youth to promote digital financial literacy among the people, especially in rural areas.

He further explained that the government is planning to give more autonomy to Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and the IIM Draft Bill is before the Cabinet for approval. The government will also establish 20 world-class institutions to promote international standards in education.
