University of Hyderabad (UoH) and Bradford University (UK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to initiate research on polymer-based materials for therapeutics for diseases like tuberculosis and cancer. The research mostly relies on nanotechnology-based approaches which will enable solving problems of current interests. The results of the research are expected to have a significant societal impact due to the nature of diseases involved.

The MoU facilitates the multidisciplinary and international nature of research collaboration which brings the School of Life Sciences and School of Engineering Technology at UoH and School of Chemistry at Bradford University together for carrying out research.

Professor Brian Cantor, Vice Chancellor of Bradford University, visited Hyderabad University to sign the Memorandum of Understanding. On this occasion, he delivered a lecture on ‘Multi-component and High Entropy Alloys’ at UoH. P. Sardar Singh, Registrar of UoH, was also present on occasion and signed the MoU with Brain Cantor. He hoped that the MoU would lead to a long-term relationship between the two varsities and facilitate research on several other areas.

On the same day, the government of Telangana signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft to explore machine learning, cloud and mobile-based solutions. The MoU would help improving citizen services which include healthcare, education and agriculture. On the other hand, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and US Consulate have also collaborated to launch Startup Accelerator Programme.
