IIM Lucknow: Visually Impaired Girl beats all odds to bag Job Offer

IIM Lucknow’s Paridhi Verma has conquered possibly the biggest battle of her career by bagging a job offer in the placement process of the institute. The 21-year old student got an offer from a micro-finance bank for the role of customer relationship executive despite being 90% visually impaired.

Paridhi suffers from macular degeneration – a very rare disease that is incurable and progressive. She had to follow an entirely different path to complete her education. With the help of readers and scribes, Paridhi appeared for all the exams.

Having pursued BBA, Paridhi aspired to do an MBA and cleared the CAT exam in her first attempt. Himanshu Rai, IIM-L professor said that Paridhi has shown extraordinary resilience and perseverance.

After receiving the offer letter, Paridhi aspires to continue her learning process. With her parent’s support and blessings, she has been able to do well throughout her life.

Paridhi was also good at in extracurricular activities and won the under-18 state level football championship when she was in Class 10. She also knows how to play the guitar and was part of a band as an undergraduate student.

During her summer internship with a company as part of the MBA curriculum, she learned how to use her skills and became aware of her strengths and weaknesses. She is determined to enhance her skills and work on her weaknesses.

To honor her resolve and fiery spirits, the Government of Rajasthan also awarded Paridhi with the ‘Women of the Future Award 2015’.
