IIM Raipur to Shift to New Permanent Campus This Year
- Chhattisgarh government has allotted 80.92 hectares of land to IIM Raipur in Pota and Cheria villages for the construction of its permanent campus.
- The establishment of the IIM Raipur new campus will be headed by the Naya Raipur Development Authority.
TheIndian Institute of Management Raipur (IIM-R)may soon relocate to its own campus in Naya Raipur. As of now, the institute is functional from its temporary campus in GEC Campus, Sejbahar Raipur.
According to the reports,Chhattisgarh governmenthas allotted 80.92 hectares of land in Pota and Cheria villages to IIM-R for the establishment of apermanent campus.The construction of the new campus will be looked after by theNaya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA). The new capital region would also have a university area which will be built in an area of 411.5 hectares.

Naya Raipur is one of the five cities across the country which were chosen as demonstration cities by the Centre for their projectSustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP). The five cities were asked to prepare project profiles with the assistance of theSUTP Consultantsand were endorsed by the SUTP Steering Committee as city demonstration projects.

The project will have anIT-enabled systemto manage a host of utilities by using state-of-art technology. The design will be composed of city surveillance, IT-enabled land management system among others which are one of its kind and which were only used in the developed countries till now.
Apart from this, the Sustainable Urban Transport Project will also include the following:
- Intelligent lighting systems
- City guide map available through a web browser
- Pay and use parking systems
- Display boards will be put up across the city for providing real-time information to citizens
- Emergency System & Alerts
