IISER Pune & Tata Technologies to Conduct Teacher Training in STEM Courses
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (IISER) has joined hands with Tata Technologies for teacher training in STEM courses. This will help in improving the quality of education especially in weaker sections of society.
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (IISER) has collaborated with Tata Technologies. The aim of collaboration between IISER Pune and Tata Technologies is to train the school teachers to improve the quality of mathematics and science education in schools. According to the MoU, Tata Technologies will provide funding of Rs.1.69 crores to IISER Pune in the next two years as a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The Memorandum of Understanding will focus on improving the quality of education especially among the students belonging to the weaker sections of the society. The association will impart training to school teachers to use activity-based teaching tools. It will help teachers to apply activity tools in classroom teachings and to develop video lesson plans for a wide reach to engage students in the class.

Such innovative methods of teaching will break the monotony and will keep students engaged during the classroom sessions and make them more attentive.

The official release further informed that by the end of two years, over 1,000 students and 200 teachers will benefit from the training. The training process for STEM learning will be led by the renowned faculty of IISER Pune. The team includes Ashok Rupner, Chaitanya Mungi among others. Also, around 40 teachers from the same pool will be trained to become trainers which will ultimately benefit the students.
