The seventh biennial symposium on “Emerging Trends in Separation Science and Technology” (ASSET-2016) was organized by the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy in association with the Department of Chemical Engineering,Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IITG),Guwahati and the Association of Separation Scientists and Technologists (ASSET) during May 17-20, 2016 at IITG, Guwahati, Assam, India.
The objective of SESTEC-2016 was to provide a forum to scientists and engineers to discuss the recent advances in the area of separation science and technology relevant to the nuclear fuel cycle activities such as separation of actinides, lanthanides and fission products and speciation of actinides. The participation of scientists and engineers from National Laboratories, Universities and Research Institutes from India and abroad in the symposium facilitated effective interaction among the experts and young researchers engaged in research in the areas of separation science and technology.
The symposim was co-sponsored by the Department of Chemical engineering, IIT Guwahati and association of Separation Scientists and Technologists (ASSET).
Dr N Saibaba, Chairman and Chief executive, Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), Hyderabad, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), inaugurated the conference.
The conference was attended by more than 200 delegates from India and abroad, and was a huge success.
