IIT Hyderabad to Organise International Conference on Structural Health
A three-day international conference will be organised by IIT Hyderabad in the second week of December 2020. The conference will be based on structural health and infrastructure.
A three-day international conference on condition assessment, rehabilitation and retrofitting of structures (CARSS) will be hosted by IIT Hyderabad jointly with Association of Structural Rehabilitation (ASTR) in the second week of December 2020. The conference date is December 14 to 16, 2020. It is the first time ever in India that an international conference on structural health assessment will be held in India.

Around 500 Researchers, Academic Scientists, practising engineers and students across the countries are likely to join the conference. The idea of organising the conference is to exchange expertise ideas and research work on structural health assessment. According to a press release by IIT- Hyderabad, CARSS 2020 will also act as a platform to share the practical challenges, trends and modern advances in the fields of repair and rehabilitation of civil infrastructure.
S Suriya Prakash who is the secretary and associate professor of the Department of Civil Engineering of IIT Hyderabad said that in India around 17,000 railway bridges need to be strengthened. He believes that the CARSS will act as a strategic partnership between the practising engineers and researchers to work together and use the latest technology to strengthen the infrastructure.
Three-day CARRS will be held in several sessions and around 300 research papers will be presented throughout the conference.
